RE: Payments on Account
Hi, No - your Self Assessment calculation (produced before you submit your return) will show you how much tax you owe for the 23/24 tax year. Once you submit your return, any payments on account or overpayments remaining on your record will be be deducted from the amount of tax calculated.

RE: Part time second job tax
Hi h88, Any untaxed income you earn between 6th April 2024 and 5th of April 2025 would be declared in a 24/25 tax return, which you would file from 6th of April 2025 (the deadline for this return being received by us would be 31st of January 2026). When you file your return, the remainder of your basic rate will be applied against your untaxed income, after which the higher rate will be applied.

Hi,Yes, you can be employed and self-employed at the same time - while the tax you owe on your employed income is sent to us by your employer, you need to register for Self Employment, as a sole trader, to pay the tax and National Insurance you owe on your self-employed income.
