RE: NETP input VAT reclaims for past purchases
Hi,
You are only able to recover VAT as input tax if you are VAT registered and you are only able to recover input tax prior to your date of VAT registration if you have purchased goods in the last 4 years and you were still in possession of those goods at the date of your VAT registration.
If you are able to successfuly backdate your VAT registration then you can treat the VAT incurred from that point if you meet the conditions of input tax as below:

Re: Corporation tax being returned to business bank account.
Hi,
Please check you are using the correct payment reference number for the accounting period you are trying to pay.Your payment reference is accounting period specific so it will not be the
same year to year. You can find the payment reference specific to the relevant accounting period in your online Business Tax Account under View Liabilities and Payments.
If you have difficulty finding the payment reference, you can contact the Corporation Tax Helpline on the number given in this link:
Corporation Tax: general enquiries.
They will be able to provide you your payment reference over the phone. You must have your Corporation Tax UTR to hand.
Thank yoiu. -
Re: Tax question on SIPP encashment
Hi,
We cannot advise you how to utilise your pension. The taxable part of your pension lump sum will be calculated and deducted by the pension provider. You would then need to claim a refund from HMRC, for any tax overpaid.
Thank you.

NI voluntary contributions for immigrants
Hi,
The criteria to pay Voluntary National Insurance Contributions (NICs) depends on an individuals circumstance, however I can provide some general information on this matter.
You can only pay voluntary NICs from the tax year you are registered on the NI system, you cannot pay prior to this year. For example you register for a UK NI number in May 2024 you can only pay Voluntary NICs from the 06 April 2024. You cannot pay Voluntary NICs in the year you reach UK state pension age.
There is more information held on the GOV.UK website Pay voluntary Class 3 National Insurance
Thank you.

Re: Tax overpayments and pension
Hi,
We are unable to investigate your request fully without a NINO of your mother or father. I’d recommend contacting the Tax Credits helpline with your mother available to answer security questions. The advisor should be able to assist with what was claimed for, how long, when the claim ended, if it ended correctly, and give details about the debt.
Where details of the Tax Credits claim appear incorrect, you can dispute the overpayment on gov.uk. More information on how to do this can be found here:
Tax credits: appeals and complaints
As the debt has transferred to DWP, the recovery should be discussed with them. More information on how to contact them is available on gov.uk. This link may be useful:

Re: Total proceeds on disposals from April 6th 2023 - 100k for joint holders? 12k annual exemption?
Hi,
As the shares are jointly owned, they both need to calculate their capital gains liability separately. Gains should be reported using the realtime capital gains service at:
Report and pay your Capital Gains Tax
or on a self assessment tax return if they do not use the service before 31 December after the tax year has ended. Capital gains tax need only be reported in a self assessment tax return, if the following two statements are both 'true'. 1 - Do you need to complete a self assessment tax return for any other reason? and 2 - have you disposed of assets with a value over £50000.
Thank you.
