VAT Error 652 Online Applications: How to confirm it was received, and check on progress?
Dear HMRC Support, I recently submitted a VAT error correction application (VATError652) online, but did not receive any automated email response or acknowledgment confirming receipt of it being received. This lack of confirmation has left me concerned about whether the application was successfully submitted and is being processed. Could you please advise if there is any way to track the progress of my submission too, or confirm that it has been logged into the system? If not, how can I be certain that my application is being reviewed? This error correction and refund request is due to Amazon not collecting and remitting vat on sales under VOEC legislation, for NETP businesses since 2021. So we need to reclaim the vat paid directly, to send them, to repay it HMRC. However, they freeze all our income disbursements until this vat can be returned to them, which is why I am panicking to understand if this application is filed in the system, as the longer I go without any income the more I worry the business may fail due to outgoings/cash flow shortage. It is a deeply stressful period, and quite unethical. But all the timeframe now belongs with HMRC and I just can't believe there would be no way to know or follow progress on vat error refund request, so felt need to check. Clarification on VAT Error Correction Application and communication via Agent Access
Dear HMRC Support, I am seeking clarification regarding my VAT error correction application (VATError652) filed three weeks ago. To submit the application, I temporarily revoked my regular accountant's agent access and granted access to a third-party accountant, as my regular accountant was unavailable. Now that the submission is complete, I have reinstated my regular accountant and revoked the third-party accountant's access. I have a few questions regarding this: 1.) If/When HMRC responds to the application filed, will the reply go to my current agent (the regular accountant now authorised), or to the third-party accountant who submitted the application? 2.) Will HMRC also send correspondence directly to me as the business owner? 3.) Can you provide any guidance on how long the VAT error correction refund process typically takes? My application involves a significant vat refund request under the correction, because Amazon did not collect VAT for my NETP business since 2021. As you may be aware by now, Amazon has frozen disbursements on sellers until these VAT refunds are processed, which is causing severe cash flow concerns and disrupted many businesses, some even into liquidation. Any insights into expected timelines would help with planning as we approach a busy Q4 season. Thank you for your support.
