  • NI Contribution . Sick/Under CMHT but not on benefits

Hello . Since 2012 I have not worked through sickness disability, but I have not been receiving benefits, with the exception of PIP. I have had a small income protection policy , reviewed each year, which I have received as I have been assessed by the income protection providers and PIP as being too sick to work. I have just found out the since 2012 , no NI contributions have been made , and I have a massive shortfall in my pension. I have examined NI credits , but apparently I do not qualify for the years 2012-2024 as I was not on the right benefits , albeit too sick to work , and not on statutory sick pay , but I was on PIP. I was under my local community mental health team for nearly all that period. As I was classed as too sick to work and unable to work , is there any other route whereby I could claim NI credits for the period outlined above ? Thank you for your help.
