  • RE: Claiming Business Car Insurance Expense in Self-Assessment

Hi, Thank you for your reply. I do not use the simplified method for claiming mileage expenses. I have contacted the company to find out the rate when I am the only insured driver. They provided me with a new quote based on our existing car insurance, but only in my name. The quote is £149 monthly, which is more expensive than our current car insurance at £119 monthly. Could you please let me know how I can claim my portion in this situation? Thank you!
  • Claiming Business Car Insurance Expense in Self-Assessment

Hello! I am in the process of completing my self-employed income tax self-assessment and have a question about claiming the expense of my business car insurance. The business car insurance (a carriage of goods for hire and reward policy) was in both my name and my wife’s name, and although the payment was made using my wife’s card, we shared the cost of the insurance. I was the sole user of the car for my business, and my wife did not use the car for her business. Could you please advise if I am eligible to claim this expense in my self-employed income tax self-assessment under these circumstances? Thank you!
