RE: Calculating adjusted net income for tax free childcare / 30 free hours
Hi M22,
To work out your adjustable net income, you add up your taxable income and subtract any 'tax reliefs'.
Personal Allowances: adjusted net income advises that "'tax relief' means that you either pay less tax to take account of money you’ve spent on specific things, like business expenses if you’re self-employed or get tax back or get it repaid in another way, like into a personal pension".
For this reason, qualifying load interest does not reduce your adjustable net income.

RE: Tax on Non Qualifying Stock Options for same day transaction
Hi Niccolo Zapponi,
Please refer to guidance on the charge to income tax on exercise, HS305, and charge to CGT on disposal, HS287.
On basic principles the calculation of the IT charge on exercise would not change if the shares were disposed of on the same day.
However if there are any forfeit provisions, restrictions or disposals for more than Market Value you will need to review the appropriate
guidance in the Employment Related Securities Manual regarding the tax treatment.

RE: Underpaid tax for earlier years in your tax code for 2022-23 Collected Twice?
Hi mossywell,
We need to include the underpayment collected in your code as this is part of the tax dedcuted at source by your employer.
You will get the credit for the tax paid when you declare this on your employment page so not paying the underpayment twice.
Thank you. -

When you complete the return for 23/24, you will show the date you ceased on the self employed section.
This will not affect the UTR as you will continue to use the same one.

Hi FT,
As the due date for paper returns was 31/10/23, you will be automcatically charged a late filing penalty.
You must send the whole return in the same format and cannot file online and then submit the SA109 in paper form.
Thank you.
