  • RE: Error in personal details with HMRC

    I changed my name sometime in 2019, on all official documentations and even told HMRC through post about this. As I was a student and did not pay taxes i didn't need to access my account in those years after, however now everytime i try the document verification process (i.e the security check) before accessing my account fails because it accepts the first stages in that it accepts my old name and initial details but the problem is my documents are all in my new name and the document check fails. I have contacted all HMRC online chat, and online services helpline but they can't even begin to help me because I physically can't pass the security test!! HMRC have told me that all my records are updated and my name was always up to date but it's causing immeasurable problems right now because that simply can't be true or else it would have been let me access my account and pass the security test once I provide my correct documents.
