RE: Incorrect National Insurance Number (Customer Service Never Available)
Hello, I was given an NI number when I worked in the UK for 2 months in 2022-2023. When I called to claim back my tax, HMRC notified me of a mismatch, suggesting someone else was using my number. Fast forward to 2 weeks ago (I came back to work the next tax year), I got a letter from HMRC stating the NI number belonged to someone else and that the Department for Work and Pensions will reach out so I can be registered. DWP sent an application for a new NI number, due by Feb 27th. However, I called HMRC and verified my identity and changed my address. The next time I called, I wasn’t verified but the representative located my correct NI number and said it’ll be sent through post. It's been 12 days. Should I still apply for a new NI number of what is the best next step to solve this? Thanks
