  • RE: UK freelancer and certificate of tax residence

Hi HMRC admin. I have started working for a Bulgarian company (I am a freelance writer and submit my tax returns online each year). They have requested the following: "Our accountant asked you to provide a Certificate from your local Tax Office that you are self-employed, and this certificate should be for the Bulgarian Tax Authorities or NATIONAL REVENUE AGENCY BULGARIA. According to our accountants, this is a regular document, and it takes 1 or 2 weeks to be issued." I have not yet been paid by the company. I sent my first invoice at the end of July, but due to tax law changes in Bulgaria, they need the information requested before they can pay. Can you advise what I need to do and which certificate I need? Also, how to I go about getting this certificate for the Bulgarian National Revenue Agency? Many thanks, Reno Charlton
