I’m sorry but you haven’t answered my question. Are you saying that even if I don’t move into the 2nd property until the building work is completed and that the property is empty while building work is ongoing, that I will need to pay CGT on my residential home that I am leaving when I sell it? Surely that can’t be right? -
Owning 2 residential properties
I have owned and lived in my current property for approx 18 years. It is my intention to purchase another property that will require a lot of building work and will not be occupied during this time. I estimate that it may take 1 year to complete the work before I can then move into it and sell my current property. Could I be affected by CGT at all if I proceed this way?
