RE: Declaring CGT in self assessment when using losses from previous years
Hi,
You need to declare the gain. if you have not reported the losses then you cannot use them as HMRC are not aware.
You need to report losses within 4 years of the tax year in which they arise.
You should therefore file the return without the losses and send a separate claim with evidence of the losses and we can then amend the return where applicable.

RE: Declaring Foreign Redundancy pay in Online Self Assessment
Hi,
Yes you need to declare the foreign income in a UK employment page also for it to be included in the calculation. this will then allow you to claim the redundancy relief in the additional information section.

RE: US-UK Capital Gains

If your disposals are in excess of £50k and/or you make a gain over £3000 you need to report it. if neither apply then you dont need to do anything.

RE: Private Residence Relief and Capital Gains Tax
Hi,
Enhancement costs are allowable as long as the price paid for the property is not reflected in the dilapidated state of the property. eg if there was no kitchen when you bought it you cannot claim for putting a new one in.
If you no longer have receipts for the improvement, you can estimate the figures and give your reason why in the calculation. these estimates must be reasonable.

RE: Self-Assessment Return

As July 2024 is not within the 23/24 tax year then you do not include the income in that years tax return.
