The VAT number should not be the same. I would suggest that you call the VAT Helpline on 0300 200 3700 to query this.

Re: Reclaiming VAT on Etsy seller fees when selling to USA only
Hi,
You will not be able to claim VAT back unless you are VAT registered.
In order to be VAT registered you will need to be making taxable supplies.
We would recommmend consulting the following guidance to see whether this will be possible for you:
Who should register for VAT (VAT Notice 700/1

Re:Zero rating of goods to be sold overseas but first shipped to a UK address
Hi,
In order to zero rate an indirect export the conditions in notice 703 section 3.4 would need to be satisfied.
You would need to obtain and keep evidence that your supply is to an overseas business customer and that the conditions have been met, otherwise VAT would be due at 20%.
Please refer to:
Conditions and time limits for zero rating

Re: taxation of rental property for unmarried partners
Hi,
As per the guidance held at PIM1030 if you own a joint rental property but are not married or in a civil partnership with the joint owner then you are not required to obtain a Deed of Trust or any other paperwork.
The rental profits can be split in any way that the two of you agree.
Although it may be prudent to have a written note of the agreed split (which can be altered each year) you will not be required to submit this to HMRC in respect of your income from property.
Thank you.
