Thank you for your question. Without seeing the screen and box numbers on the SA105 UK property page that you are referring to I cannot give a definite answer. However, the issue may be that you need to declare your rent received in box 20 and expenses in the relevant boxes. As there is no profit you would not include a figure in box 38 or 40, the adjusted loss (rent – expenses) would go in box 41; and 43 if you are carrying this forward to the following year. We can confirm that there are no Income Tax implications on the receipt of a cash gift unless the cash gift generates interest or dividends.
These would then potentially be subject to tax.
