Hello! Something is bothering me regarding my NIE contributions. My gateway page says I have 33 years so far where I contributed. But it is not right as I only got 30. I don't know where the other years come from?? Is it a mistake? Should I notify them? Thanks

Hi,
The 3 extra tax years may be what we call ‘Juvenile Credits’.  Credits were awarded for the first 3 years of a person’s working life – that’s the tax years in which a person reached ages 16, 17 and 18.  So it could be that your National Insurance account is correct.
If you have access to your Personal Tax Account (PTA) you should be able to see those 3 early tax years as credits recorded.  If you don’t have access to your PTA you can set one up via www.gov.uk or you may wish to call our National Insurance Helpline (0300 200 3500) and they will be able to check your National Insurance account and see if you were awarded the Juvenile Credits.
If you’d like to check your pension entitlement you may do so via:
Contact the Future Pension Centre or call Future Pension Centre on 0800 731 0175
Thank you.

Thanks. Maybe I should have added that I am Spanish and now I am back in Spain for good and when I first arrived to UK, I was 23 years old so the extra 3 years for the Juvenile Credits wouldn't apply to me. However, I did work 3 years in Spain previous to moving to the UK. Maybe the UK is taking into account my years worked in Spain, the same way Spain is taking into account the years I worked in the UK?? ⁿ

Hi Lolito Lolito,

Any social security contributions that you’ve paid in another country are not recorded on your UK National Insurance account.
If you have a Personal Tax Account this will show year by year the National Insurance contributions paid so you may see where the extra years are.
You may, however, wish to call our National Insurance Help on 0300 200 3500 and they will be able to check your National Insurance account and provide you with a Statement of all the National Insurance contributions that are recorded.

Thank you.
