Hi, I have just realised that I made an error on my voluntary NIC contributions payment. I am paying from a UK bank, but live abraod. I was confused and used the National Insurance Number followed by IC then my name rather than the 18 digit code. I assume may payment will still be linked to my account with HMRC? Thanks.

Hi,
You need to contact the National Insurance department to ensure your payment has been credited to your account.
Call national Insurance on 0300 200 3500 from the UK or +44 191 203 7010 if calling from abroad.
You can use the webchat function ‘ask HMRC online’  https://www.tax.service.gov.uk/ask-hmrc/chat/national-insurance
You can also write in to:
PT Operations North East England
HM Revenue and Customs
BX9 1AN
When submitting your correspondence, kindly provide your National Insurance Number, full name, current address, a contact telephone number, and a
brief explanation of the purpose of your letter.
Additionally, please remember to sign and date the document, even if it is printed.
Thank you.

You said 'You can use the webchat function ‘ask HMRC online’ https://www.tax.service.gov.uk/ask-hmrc/chat/national-insurance' Except it's not workng is it? Tried dozens of time over the last week, every time I get this message ... "Our advisers are not available to discuss your query at the moment. You can ask another question, contact HMRC for more help (opens in a new tab) or end this chat." You said 'Call national Insurance on 0300 200 3500 from the UK or +44 191 203 7010 if calling from abroad.' Accept you get cut off as its too busy ... calls are not even being connected now ...
