Can Someone from HMRC please confirm thy have received my Payment Having spent several hours trying to find how to pay 1 year of class3 voluntary national insurance contributions. I finally contacted a person on tel no 03002003500. I was given an 18 digit national insurance reference number. Also the following HMRC bank details. sort code 08 32 20 account number 12001004 account name HMRC NIC Receipts. I logged on to my HSBC account and set up the new payee. HSBC recognised the account name as HMRC NIC deficiency payment. I processed this and payment was made. I am concerned that my payment may have gone to the wrong account, so I checked on GOV.UK website bank details copied sort code - 08 32 20 account number - 12001004 account name - HMRC NIC Receipts Checking on GOV.UK again I find HMRC’s bank details Sort code 08 32 20 Account number 12001004 Account name HMRC NICO

Hi David Hughes,

Your payment should have worked through the banking system correctly.
It may take up to 8 weeks for your payment to be allocated to your National Insurance account but if you have access to a Personal Tax Account (PTA)
you can check to see if it has been allocated to the tax year(s) you intended.
If it’s been longer than the 8 weeks since you made your payment and it’s not shown on your PTA, please call the National Insurance Helpline on 0300 200 3500
and they will be able to ensure that it has been received correctly and then allocate it.

Thank you.

Thank you for your reply I have checked my national insurance account, and the payment has been allocated to the unpaid year. How do I find out if this has increased my pension, what date will the increase apply, How will I be notified

I made a class 3 NIC payment very recently and it only took three working days to update my NI record. It's not right to ask people to wait 8 weeks before taking action when the majority of payments go through in a few days. I recommend using HMRC's online chat system when you do this as you can download the entire conversation, and that will contain the 18 digit reference number. Also download the payment confirmation from your bank. That way you know for sure the payment was made correctly and that it went to the right place. Will give you more peace of mind.
