In November 2023 I paid voluntary contributions via self assessment for. 22/23 tax year. HMRC didn’t allocate the payment so I’ve contacted this month and the advisor said it would be moved to 22/23 tax year as paid but it’s showing as 23/24! I’ve literally just paid 23/24 voluntary contributions, which isn’t the same amount as 22/23. Is it likely the payment for 23/24 will be allocate to 22/23 or will I have to contact HMRC? Given it’s taken almost a year to get this far and I was advised 23/24 won’t get looked at until February 2025. I’ve only got 25/26 and 26/27 tax years to get full NI before pension.

Hi,
If it appears that the payment has been incorrectly allocated you would need to contact HMRC to confirm the correct position.
Thank you.
