We recently TUPED a bunch of employees onto our payroll. During which there where two employees with the same name and they had the other employees National Insurance Number allocated to their payroll record and visa-versa. Following the first period the employees were paid real time information was sent through to HMRC for them both. So the records had the correct employee number but the incorrect NI Number. This would has resulted in their tax records being stamped with the incorrect employee numbers at the HMRC side following the initial RTI file. Once this NI Number issue had been notified to us we have since amended these within the payroll system and the correct NI Number appears on the employees payroll records, however, it appears that since that initial stamp of the first real time information HMRC haven't yet amended that to sit against your employee number. Now whenever we send RTI data for these individuals the pay and tax are getting allocated to the other employee and visa versa. I have tried the Employers Helpline to get this rectified to no avail. The employees themselves have also tried via personal tax to get this rectified also to no avail. I need help from someone who is able to amend the back ground data, firstly to allocate the correct employee number against each employees tax record and secondly to reallocate the data already previously sent through.

Hi s10esy,
The Personal tax line has a process to fix this.
If you ask the employees to call them on 0300 200 3300 and ask to speak to a technician.
Thank you.

HMRC Admin - I have made couple of attempts today to get through to a technician via aforementioned number but unfortunately on the initial call they advised me that they cannot put me through to the tech teams because this case has nothing to do with them. I made a second attempt as well but advisor hung up on me. I am trying to rectify my government gateway profile with correct figures as per my payslip since November 2023 but unfortunately; no luck. I have sent numerous emails and made several calls to HMRC to rectify this issue to no avail. Furthermore; myself and my colleage who is facing this issue raised a ticket on HMRC app and we have been assigned with the case worker as well but unforunately even the case worker is not able to provide any further information as per latest. If it does not get fixed on timely bases it might effect my P60 end of year and I am not in a positon to get these items rectified back and forth. It is requested you to please advise effective course of action so that this can be resolved once and for all. Thanks, M S Khan
