I'm having a problem getting interest information from some investments I have. Will HMRC get this anyway and so can I leave it blank?

Can you help with this scenario please. If you put around £50,000 in a 2 year fixed Savings account. My understanding is that you only pay tax on the interest at the end of those 2 years in whatever tax year that may be. So does that mean I can only use my yearly savings allowance or £1000 once or as the interest was technically generated over 2 years do I have £2000 of savings allowance to use before paying tax on rest of the interest

Hi Dan Rio

You are only due £1000 savings allowance per year and it cannot be carried forward.

Thank you

Hi Democrat,

If it is for your tax retrun, you need to give the information yourself. you can state that some of the information is provisionl until you actually receive it all.

Thank you.
