Hello: I'm doing my self assessment myself after using an accountant for the past couple years. After the self assessment for 21-22, I made two payments for the 22-23 tax year in the past 12 months. I can see the amounts in "View account" - "Tax years" for the 22-23 tax year. HOWEVER, when I do my assessment, it shows the amount I owe and there's no reference to the amount I have already paid. The amount I am told I owe does not seem to take into account what I've already paid. I do not want to submit my assessment until I understand how the amount calculated on my self assessment relates to what I have already paid. Does the self assessment show what I've already paid in and I am just not noticing it? Or does the amount I've paid already only apply to the self assessment amount once I've submitted my return. Many thanks in advance for any clarifications.

Hi
The tax return doesn't take into account any payments made direct by you. this is reflected on your statement so once you submit the return and the system updates you will be able to see the revised balance due along with any payments on account for 23/24.
Thank you.
