First self assessment here. Submitted on 17th March. Am due a repayment, it is showing as bank repayment pending. Haven't been contacted for any additional info and most of the threads on here has varying information on what this actually means. Can someone clarify? I am unsure of the next steps and timescales

Hi LKC88

If the repayment is still showing as pending then it has been selected for security checks which can take up to 6 weeks to complete.
If not issued by the end of the 6 weeks you will need to contact HMRC to review Self Assessment: general enquiries

Thank you

6 weeks? For security checks? What are these checks exactly? This is my first self assessment and it’s not a massive amount I am even due back. I entered every detail to the letter in my assessment.

Hi,

The security checks are carried out by a specialist department and we cannot give details on what the checks are. Once completed if no issues the repayment will be issued. If additional information is needed a letter will be issued to you. If you have an online account once issued the issue date will be shown.
Thank you.
