Hi, I am currently in a sales job which has commission so im never going to know how much I have earned in a year until the end of the year. Im also an uber driver part time. I haven't gone over the 1k allowance yet but when I do, do I need to register as self employed or just wait until April to fill out a self assessment form? Basically im not sure if I need to register now or wait until April. If i need to register what, how and where do i do it?

Hi Aqsa,
In the first instance you need to determine your employment status

Hi Bradley Maybury,
Ideally, for your own convenience, you should register for Self Employment as soon as you know that you will be due to pay tax on your Self Employment income.
You can do so here:
What a sole trader is
Thank you.

I currently have a full time job but will taking on a bit of extra work self employed. It will be over the £1000 threshold at appx £2000-£3000 per year. Will I be able to claim any working from home expenses against that amount?

Hello, I am employed full time, but I am considering picking up a flexible side job that is considered self employed. What would I need to do regarding tax nd when would I need to fill out the relevant forms?

Hi jatin Sharma,
If your income from evri is below £1000, this will be covered by the trading allowance and you will not need to complete a tax return to declare this. You can see guidance here:
Tax-free allowances on property and trading income
You can always review whether you need to complete a Self Assessment return here:
Check if you need to send a Self Assessment tax return
Thank you.

Hi RPDean,
If your gross self employment income will be greater than £1000 in the tax year then you will need to register as self employed and complete a Self Assessment tax return at the tax year end: Check how to register for Self Assessment
Thank you.

Hi,
It can take up to 5 working days for the payment to be processed. If you check your online account after 5 working days and if the payment is not shown then you can contact HMRC to trace and allocate the payment.
Thank you.
