RE: Section 104 holdings
Hi,
You should keep your foreign shares and your UK shares separate if using S104 holding. In a tax return you would show your UK share in the main SA100 and the foreign shares in SA106,
where you can claim a foreign tax credit for and overseas tax paid on them. Have a look at:
Shares and Capital Gains Tax (Self Assessment helpsheet HS284)
Thank you. -
RE: Residential Property Income costs - box 44
Hi.
You will need to amend the tax return you submitted and include the residential property costs for that year. If it is too late to amend your return, you will need to submit and overpyament
relief claim. Please review and follow the guidance at:
Self Assessment Claims Manual
to ensure you submit the claim in the correct format.
Thank you.

RE: Tax code on return from international assignment
Hi,
Your Employee can contact personal tax helpline on:
Get help from HMRC if you need extra support.
They will look at the tax code and will issue a P6 with the new code. Until you receive this you should continue to use the
NT code.
Thank you.

RE: AirBnB rental income
Hi,
Thank you for your question. I assume you are renting a room in your own property. In this case the rent a room scheme would apply. Under this scheme you are allowed to receive £7500 per
year before becoming liable to tax on this income. If the income exceeds £7500 the remainder would be taxable on top of your other taxable earnings on your self assessment form. If you are
claiming the rent a room relief you cannot claim any other expenses.
Thank you.

RE: VAT relief on house restoration
Hi,
It would need to meet the definition below:
A ‘guardian’ is a person who is installed in a property by the owner or on behalf of the owner in order to deter squatters and vandals. They may pay a low rent on terms that fall short of a
formal tenancy. Alternatively, they may be paid to occupy the property.
The builder completing the work for you would need to be satisfied that all the conditions are met including the role of a guardian.
