RE: How long to process a DT claim?
It is two months since I received the reply to my DT query... and still no news about my DT claim. I managed to contact HMRC by phone and I was assured that that it would be resolved by mid-February. At the beginning of March I contacted HMRC via the chat line and was told '...waiting for a technician to look at it for you ...Someone should contact you when this is completed'. HMRC received the requested documentation in 27-September-2023 AND NO reply after 6 months. I'm at lost what to do next... Shall I submit the claim papers again? Shall I add a recurring activity to my agenda to contact HMRC ? Shall I initiate an official complaint process against HMRC? Or .... Please advise Thanks -
How long to process a DT claim?
Hi HMRC Community I am a resident in Spain since 2016 and under the Double Taxation agreement, my UK pensions have a tax code NT. Last year I started drawing up a new UK pension but it has a non NT tax code. I was advised by HMRC to submit a DT form for the new pension. The completed DT form plus Spanish Resident certificate and relevant payslips, were posted to BX9 1AS in September 2023. My Personal Tax Account in the HMRC app shows the document as “Received 27/09/2023”. Today – 24 January 2024, I have yet to receive a reply. I’ve been calling HMRC on +44 135 435 9022 but to no avail. Yesterday, I was cut-off after 25 minutes and now I’m on wait for 1hr 20 mins … so far! How long does HMRC to process a DT claim? Do I need to submit it again? Any advice would be much appreciated. Regards -
RE: Problem on posting to BX9 1AS
Hi, BX9 1AS is an artificial post code and it is not on the Royal Mail database. Letters received at BX19 1AS are opened, scanned and distributed to other HRMC offices. Gov.uk website says that for couriers a physical address should be used. Check https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/hm-revenue-customs/contact/couriers Hope it helps -
RE: Double Taxation: Spanish Resident with UK Tax Code
Hi, Thanks for your reply. Just one clarification... You mentioned that the completed form should be validated by the Spanish tax authorities, etc. I was told that the local authorities do not - and they can not, validate DT forms. Instead, one needs to obtain a "Residencia Fiscal en Espana Convenio" (Spanish certificate of Residence) and attach it to the completed DT form. I have completed the DT form for the new pension, attached the Spanish Resident Certificate and posted the docs to HMRC. Regards -
Double Taxation: Spanish Resident with UK Tax Code
I am a Spanish Resident and under the Double Taxation Agreement, I’ve been paying tax only in Spain for two UK pensions, tax code “NT”. In August 2023, I started drawing a third pension and the first payslip had a tax code “1257L M1”. The second payslip (6-September-2023) shows a tax code “25T M1” and includes a message “As instructed by HRMC”. (NB my PTA shows the tax code as 25TX) I am not sure what to do about this inconsistency, could you please advise? Thank you
