RE: Marriage allowance vs savings starting rate
Hi AndyPG,
No the marriage allowance does not impact the savings starting rate.
The savings starting rate is £5000 above the personal allowance £12570.
Thank you. -
RE: Income tax still not calculated for 2022/2023 year
Hi peter nicholson,
If you have checked online and it is not showing an underpayment then you would not need to contact HMRC.
At the tax year end when we receive your final pay and tax details we review your record automatically and if you have underpaid we would send you a calculation and the underpayment would also show on your online account.
Thank you. -

RE: Self Assessment - Uniform Tax Relief
Hi Craig,
If you receive the relief for laundry of a uniform of £60 then you claim this on the employment page on the Self Assessment.
On the employment page there is a question do you want to claim expenses while working for the employer.
You would answer yes to this which opens up the expenses section to claim the £60 relief.
Thank you.

RE: Joint savings account split & tax calculations
Hi David Coulson,
If a joint account then your wife will be reviewed on 50% of the interest.
If this is her only income and if she has transferred the marriage allowance to yourself this will leave her allowance of £11313 to allocate against the interest.
Thank you. -
RE: Underpaid tax for earlier years included in 2022-23 tax code
Hi James Harwood,
We would need to access your record to check your tax code to see what the entry should be.
You can contact HMRC at Self Assessment: general enquiries
Thank you.
