Hi Antanas1963,
If your letter is received before your CF83 application is processed (current timescale for applications from EU countries is 31 weeks and current timescale for applications from countries outside of the EU is 48 weeks), it will be shown as a related item on our records and will be looked at when your application is processed.
Please note if you are applying to pay at the Class 2 rate, you will need to provide details of your employment abroad i.e. full name and address of employer and exact dates of all employments or self-employment abroad.
Thank you. -
RE: How to cancel application, if it contains wrong information?
Hi Antanas1963,
If you are employed abroad, you may be eligible to pay at the Class 2 rate.
You can call our Helpline and ask them to input a note on your records to say that you are applying to pay at the Class 2 rate but if you are not eligible you would like your application to be considered at the Class 3 rate.
If you have not provided information about your employment abroad on your application, you will need to provide this information for your application to be considered at the Class 2 rate i.e. name and addresses of all employments abroad, and exact dates of employments abroad.
You can contact them on +44 191 203 7010, lines are open Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm. Alternatively, you can complete a new CF83 application.
Thank you

RE: Time-0ff work (as unpaid leave)
Hi Amitia Wood,
If you are not receiving an income from your employer you will not be contributing towards your National Insurance records for benefit or pension purposes.
Your employer should be able to provide you with further information regarding your National Insurance position whilst you are on unpaid leave.
They can contact the Employers helpline for further advice on this if they are unable to answer your queries.
You may wish to contact the Department for Work and Pensions to ask if you would be entitled to any National Insurance credits whilst caring for your Mother, however this may not be possible whilst living in Spain. You can contact them on 0800 731 0297 for further information. Lines are open 8.30am to 5.00pm Monday to Thursday; 8.30am to 4.30pm Friday.
You can also find information on GOV.UK about paying voluntary National Insurance contributions whilst abroad.
Please see further information in leaflet NI38 within the following link - Social Security abroad: NI38. This will provide you with further information on paying voluntary National Insurance contributions whilst abroad, and the CF83 also held within that link is the application you would complete if you want to pay voluntary National Insurance contributions.
Thank you
