Gains from Hong Kong MPF
Hi, I have a Mandatory Provident Fund account in Hong Kong. The MPF contributions from my past employment have been invested by account trustee and have obtained some gains during the tax year 2023-2024. The gains are kept in my account and cannot be withdrawn before my retirement. Do I need to report the gains to HMRC? If so, how to do. I would like to know if the gains are considered as part of my pension. In UK/Hong Kong Double Taxation Agreement, are the gains non-taxable in the UK? Thank you for kind attention. -

Foreign Tax Refund
Hi, I moved to UK on 27/1/2023. Before moving, I lived and worked in Hong Kong. I stopped working in Hong Kong on 1/1/2023 and have fully paid the salary tax for the year 2022-2023 to Hong Kong Inland Revenue Department. But last month, the HK Inland Revenue Department notified me that there was a revised assessment and refund of tax for 2022-2023. I have received a refund cheque for HKD 6,000. I would like to know if I need to declare this amount of refund to HMRC. If so, what should I do? Your advice and help are much appreciated. Thank you.
