If a person over SPA (eg 69 years old) has submitted CF83 to HMRC, they pass it DWP who then take another few months to reply. Q1 - Will such an application to HMRC made in March 2025 also be given an 8 week grace period for NICs shortfall payment from date of DWP reply? Q2 - What is the optimal approach for someone to submit CF83 to DWP if within 6 months of / over State Pension Age where eligible for New State Pension? ie - Should it go to International Pension Centre, IPC CRRT TC101, The Pension Service 11, Mail Handling Site A etc? Please advise Thanks

Hi,
Q1 – As long as the application is received prior to the April 2025 deadline, the 8 week grace period will be applied for the payment of the shortfall period.
Q2 – For a customer who is within or over 6 months of State Pension age, they should contact the International pension centre on +44 (0) 191 2187777 who will
advise what action needs to be taken.
Thank you.

Hello I sent my pension is due in December I submitted my CF83 in August, received a response from HMRC on 30 September saying they had passed my application to the International Pension Centre. After not gearing anything for 1 month I have contacted the IPC who tell me that it takes anywhere between 4 to 6 months to reply. 1. I enquired about their Levels of Service and Charter they told me there isn't one, is this correct for a government department? 2. If they do not respond before the April 25 deadline will I still be able to pay the 8 years I require? Thankyou

Hi,
The International Pension Centre are part of the DWP and so we cannot comment on the processing timescales of another department.
So long as your form was received before 5 April 2025, you will be given the opportunity to pay the National Insurance contributions that were available to pay at the time you made your application.
Thank you.
