In February 2024, I discovered that a company I've never recognized reported me as an employee, in addition to my actual employer. Despite contacting HMRC, I was instructed to reach out to these supposed employers directly, whom I've never worked for and have no means to contact. This situation is highly suspicious, compounded by the fact that the registered company address seems dubious. I fear this fraudulent activity will adversely affect my financial standing. To HMRC, I have collected pertinent information, including the company's name, registration number, address, and any other relevant details. Please let me know if you require this information for further investigation.

Hi Nat Ngan,
I would send any details you have in connection with the company to allow this to be reviewed by HMRC.
The address is:
HMRC, Self Assessment & PAYE, BX9 1AS UK
Thank you.

Hi, I have got the same issue from Nat Ngan, yesterday I access my online tax account, and I have seen that a company I've never recognized reported me as an employee, and also received the information that I should contact directly this company, but I have no means to do it, because they don`t have any contact number or e-mail. Should I also send my request to HMRC to review it by letter?

Thank you for your prompt response and the provided address for submitting details to HMRC regarding the fraudulent activity I reported. However, I need to stress the urgency and severity of this matter. I have already sent the letter and email but no reponse. As I await HMRC's review of the information I have provided, I demand clarity on the expected timeframe for their response and the service level agreement (SLA) governing such investigations. It is imperative that HMRC acts swiftly given the serious implications of this fraudulent activity for my financial well-being. Moreover, I need assurance on the steps HMRC will take if I do not receive a timely response or if the issue persists despite their intervention. I have already reported the incident to multiple authorities, and HMRC's failure to address it promptly will exacerbate the situation. I expect HMRC to take immediate and decisive action to resolve this matter. Any further delays or inaction will be deemed unacceptable, and I will not hesitate to escalate this issue through all available channels until it is resolved satisfactorily.

What assistance can you provide on this forum? I'm simply inquiring about a straightforward matter, not delving into my tax affairs. This is akin to understanding the terms and conditions and policies of a company, which should be transparent and readily available. Despite posting, emailing, and calling, I've received no response after waiting for a month. What steps can I take to escalate this issue? What process can I take for legal action?

Hi,

We apologise for the delay in our response.  Please be assured that HMRC take all allegations of fraud seriously and have a robust process in place to investigate them. Unfortunately, we aren't at liberty to divulge the details of individual reports on a public forum.

If you haven’t already done so please contact Income Tax: General Enquiries who will be able review and assist with your personal PAYE record.

We ask that all instances of fraudulent activity are to be reported via this link: Report tax fraud or avoidance to HMRC

Thank you.

I've had issues accessing this forum and submitting the technical report form. After trying to register a new account, I finally got in. I wonder if HMRC blocked me. Regarding the fraudulent employee situation, HMRC removed them from my PAYE but only apologized without any explanation. This might have been their mistake. I've had numerous issues with HMRC, including poor customer service and lack of staff knowledge. I've lodged multiple complaints and escalated the matter to the Adjudicator. Although their investigation will take a few months, they will help convey our concerns to HMRC. Here's the link for reference: [Contact the Adjudicator's Office](https://www.gov.uk/guidance/contact-the-adjudicators-office#:~:text=The%20Adjudicator's%20Office%20investigates%20complaints,Office%20can%20investigate%20your%20complaint).

Hello - I am writing as I have a similar issue. I have been working for one employer for more than 4 years but I recently noticed that apparently I have been also working for 2 more companies - both are fake I think. CONSTRUCTION PLUMBER CO LIMITED (fake income £1,200) and in the last tax year (which I only noticed now) BELHAM LIMITED (fake income £9,900 - tax paid) - It looks like I have been taxed on money I have never earned. I have seen one more post about this issue here. I will try to call the HMRC next week but is there anyone in a similar situation and can advise how to rectify it? How is it possible to add me as an emplyee without my consent? Is this a possible money laundering case? I only log in to check my self emplyed account - almost never PAYE - but now I have discovered that I have been working and earning money for BELHAM LIMITED which is incorrect. I thought someone could take my credentials and add those through my account but it is impossible as every time I am loggin in, I need to insert a code send via text message - so I would definitely knew if there is a suspicious activity on my HMRC account. I guess I am writing here for other people to be aware of the situation but if anyone has therir case resolved - it would be good to know as I am wondering now if it spossible to get that unfairly taken tax back? Thank you

I too have just discovered a employer on my account. A company called PLUSH12 LTD I googled this and some other companies named in this and similar forums and found a similarity that the so called directors of these companies seem to be Romanian. Seems like a larger scale scam going on here that I hope hmrc, company house and the police are taking seriously. I'm yet to contact hmrc myself due to the time of night but will be in the morning. I'll also be reporting the director of this company for fraud too.
