I am a French citizen, employed and paid by a French company. I have UK leave to remain and my address is in UK, I am married to a British person, I work away from home (which I consider to be UK) for between 2-3 weeks each month, I only return to UK 5 days a month on average for my off shift days. My French employer deducts and pays to French authorities any due deductions. My questions are - should I carry on with this arrangement? Do I need to notify HMRC of my situation, should my French employer be paying me gross and I then do my own deductions? Thankyou

Hi Millish Kinrade,
Your tax should be paid in the country where you are tax resident.
Your residence status is for you to determine, please see guidance here:
RDR3 Statutory Residence Test
Thank you.

I am from the UK, my wife is from Slovakia and has residency and employment in Gent. I moved to Belgium mid April 2024. I have an orange card and I am currently waiting for my residency card that should arrive in December based on my right to reside alongside my EU wife in the host country she is employed in. I am self employed in the UK, I own an online shop as well as providing customer service remotely to a company (still as self employed). I will only be offering services / trading within the UK. I only work remotely from Belgium. Do I need to register as self employed in Belgium if I will only be trading within the UK? I will be physically located in Belgium while working, but I will not be offering services to Belgium companies / customers. I believe I am a tax resident in Belgium but I am not registered, I am in process of doing this but trying to understand how this works.
