Hi, I'm just have unique tax reference number (UTR) in 2022/23 tax year. I'm going to be UK tax resident 23/24 onward, I do have oversea income that potentially taxable in the UK. Do I need to obtain another UTR in 2023/24 tax year, thanks

Hi, I also had the UTR when I lived outside the UK in 2022/23. I moved in the UK in 2023/24 and registered to the personal tax account on HMRC web site. However, I could not see my UTR and my previous tax information in my personal tax account. How can I put the UTR in the personal tax account? Besides, I would like to do the self-assessment online but I cannot see any option in my personal tax account. What should I do? Thank you!

Hi Kin Sun,
We will need to access your record to check that the UTR is still open. You can contact HMRC at: File your Self Assessment tax return online.
Thank you.

Hi, I applied for a new UTR on 30th July as I did not submit a self-assessment last year. According to your online calculator I should have received this by 9th September but no letter has arrived. I am therefore unable to complete my tax return. I have tried the online chat seven times this morning and each time been told no advisers are available. I tried on Saturday and got through to someone but he said it had to go through a particular team who didn't work on weekends. I have lost count of the number of times I have tried ringing - it is impossible to get an adviser. It doesn't matter how I phrase it I just get a text message with a load of irrelevant links and the call cut off. I am tearing my hair out and wasting a huge amount of time
