Just wondering about the TAX REFUND as “apparently” it was paid today into my account that you asked for my bank details and clearly nothings went in, so just wondering why you offer to pay it via online or a cheque, but the cheque option takes 6 weeks… so I went with ONLINE OPTION. According to the whole internet nobody received their TAX REFUND. Even though it says it’s been paid. Any answers for this? My details I entered were correct I triple checked

Mine says I have been refunded today but it’s still not in my account has anyone actually received anything from it and if so how long did it take to go in from when they said they processed it

I'm along the same lines with everyone else here... I had requested a self-refund, which was to be delivered to my bank account. The status of the request seems to think it has been paid, ' HMRC paid you a refund of **** ' however checking my bank account, there has been no increase since. I suppose and hope this situation relies on time.

Hi, I am due a refund and HMRC says they sent me a cheque on July 12 and it can take 6 weeks to reach to me. I am currently abroad and have no way of cashing that cheque, is there any way to receive the payment as a bank transfer? Is it possible to cancel the cheque for example, and then do a bank transfer? If not, I have another question, can a friend cash out the cheque for me? And what does it require. I haven't had any experiences with cheques so I am not really familiar with the process. Can he just pick up the cheque and deposit it into my account? Or does he need an official approval letter or something like that? Note that cheque is issued to me, as I have not been able to fill out forms.

I am resending as the admin has 'cut short' my message above, but I have been waiting two months for my tax overpayment to be refunded to me, they have my bank details, no one has emailed me or sent me a letter, when are you going to let me know what happened please? I also looked in my app and no messages outstanding, I submitted the refund claim on 27th of May and now am still waiting.

Hi, I received a cheque for a refund of an overpaid tax, not sure of which bank to take the cheque to. Can I take the cheque to any UK bank? Thanks

Hi Enes

Your friend may be able to cash the cheque on your behalf. You would need to check with your bank if there is a process for this.

Thank you

Hi Jh964,
Once shown as issued a PAYE refund can take 3-5 working days to arrive in your account.
If it is a Self Assessment refund then from the issue date it can take 5-10 working days.
If you have still not received the repayment you will need to contact HMRC to review:

Thank you.

I received a letter that a tax refund check was sent to my address in the UK. But I am already abroad. How can tax be refunded to a UK bank account?
