I just want to check that I have sent a report of HMRC sending correspondence - since 2022 - to someone who does not live at my address, to the right email/department I have returned letters to HMRC "return to sender not known at this address" but 2 more have arrived in the past week I have emailed - advice.dpa@hmrc.gov.uk - with details Is this the right email address for this to be dealt with? It is now causing great concern if someone is using my address fraudulently

Hi,

Sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused through receiving this mail. Please return the correspondence to us so that we can investigate the matter further - cross out the name and

address and write “return to sender' on the front of the envelope, and post the letter back to us. You do not need to use a stamp to do this. If a return address is not already present on the letters,

return them to Pay As You Earn and Self Assessment, HM Revenue and Customs, BX9 1AS.

Thank you.

I have received 10 letters, 3 from different addresses from HMRC, addressed to my address but with someone else’s name on the letters. I returned 2 of the letters to HMRC with letters, but nothing has been done by them to stop this person using my address with HMRC, in exasperation today, I rang HMRC fraud dept, they were helpful, but I have now received an email saying this is not a police matter and no action will be taken, apart from them saying they will use the info I have provided. I’m frightened and very upset as this person keeps fraudulently giving my address to companies plus HMRC.

Hello, we have also received a letter from HMRC in the name of an unknown person to our home address, and previously from NHS, water services as well. Please can I ask whether the email address in the original post can be used to report this to HMRC? I have returned the suspicious letter to the sender. Thank you!

For 15 months I have been receiving HMRC mail for a previous occupant of the flat I live in. These are returned, annotated to say the person no longer lives here, and asking to stop mailing to my address. I phoned HMRC months ago to give details, but still the letters continue. 3 more letters this week! Are HMRC systems so inefficient they cannot address this simple issue?
