Hi, I am also having the same issue with this Qtrs repayment. It states in the account we will be refunded but the amount shows as £0.00 has been paid into your bank. I have tried calling today and using webchat but am getting nowhere. Is there a glitch in the system?

Hi,

Please contact the Helpline on 03002003700 so that we can open up your account and see what the position is in regards to the repayment.

It's not unusual to see a repayment on the account for £0.00 while the repayment is being processed but this should
change to the true repayment amount once we release the repayment  .

Thank you.

I have now been waiting for 4 weeks for HMRC to contact me regarding the VAT repayment, which is the first one set up under the VAT registration. I have spoken to three different people on the call centre and not one has managed to tell me why the VAT repayment hasn't been made and when it is going to be looked at. Complaints have been made and nobody ever calls back with any reason as to what is outstanding and when the repayment is going to be processed. who can I speak to that is a manager that can track down who is the person or department supposed to be looking at the repayment? I need answers and need to stop being fobbed off as the service from HMRC's VAT team is appalling.

Hi
Apologies for the delay in making the VAT repayment to you.
The repayments can sometimes takes up to 30 days to be processed. especially if we need to make contact with you to support the claim.
When calling the helpline we would then contact the department looking into the claim to pass on any information which you provide to us on the call.
Thank you.

I submitted our return 10th July, tracker says sent for further checks 11th July, expected payment date 9th August, still nothing....Speak to online chat and all they can say is they will be in touch if they need further information, but nothing, no letter no email, no phone call. There is also no phone number that you can ring to chase up yourself, they just give you the general enquiry number and tell you the same information. This is really bad service for small businesses who rely on there VAT refunds

HMRCADMIN 25 - I suggest that you refer these issues to the complaints department as the replies are not of much help when HMRC are constantly making errors resulting in delays as my case was only resolved after I insisted on making a complaint as HMRC had exceeded the 30 days. Once the complaint was made, 2 days later I got a reply from somebody who knew what they were doing and could see HMRC had coded my request imcorrectly causing the delay. Thankfully, she knew what she was doing and resolved the issue in 24 hours

Hi, my ltd company has had a VAT repayment sent to my business account but I’d already changed banks and swapped the bank details over the day before the repayment went into the original account. I thought the bank detail would change on the system straight away but it took a couple of days The payment will have bounced back to hmrc as I closed the original account the day before the repayment was due. Will the repayment automatically be re-processed and sent to the new bank account? On my gateway account it says repayment complete. My new bank details are also showing.

Hello, I submitted my Sept VAT return on 1st Oct, always around the same amount on monthly returns and I receive refund in 5 days. However this went for 'further checks' it then changed to this 'estimated repayment date has passed 02 Oct 2024 You do not need to do anything right now. We are working on repaying you as soon as possible. We have sent you a letter to explain that your repayment is delayed. I have received no letter and phone line said they couldnt see a letter?! I have used the chat and phoned about ten times, no one can tell me how long it will be! I have also submitted my Oct return and this is backed up behind the Sept one. This is a large amount of money I need to pay my staff. I am at a total loss and its really upsetting and frustrating, does anyone have any advice please?

Hi boston1,
We aim to process VAT repayments as a priority.
However we do need to carry out checks to make sure that the repayment is correct.
If the repayment is taking longer than it would normally take please contact us again and we can progress the repayment for you.
Please see the link below:

Hello, I had a VAT repayment sent to my old address by mistake. This repayment was from last January and its just slipped my mind, I've now updated all my details and have tried phoning VAT to speak to an agent but i'm just going round and round with the voice thing. Even when it says i'll put you through to an agent, it cuts off. It doesnt hang up, it just cuts off and goes silent. Is there any other way i can speak to someone about this? Cheers, Stewart

Hi, The VAT return was submitted on 03 July and the online status indicated repayment should be by 08 August. However, repayment was not received and I have been calling HMRC helpdesk every 2 weeks to get an update but they are unable to give any timeframe for the repayment. My account online has indicated that a letter was sent indicating the reason for the delay but I have not received the letter. I tried requesting a copy of the letter when I call HMRC but they are unable to help me. I was advised that HMRC are doing their checks before repayment, but since I did not receive the correspondence I don't know if any information was requested. I mentioned above, I have been calling HMRC frequently and have been told the same thing each time. They are unable to provide any further details and cannot advise the next steps. Can you provide an email address or direct contact to the departments that handles the VAT ? Thank you.

Hi,
You will need to contact our VAT team so they can look at your VAT account. When you contact the VAT helpline they should be able to send a referral to the team that processes the repayments. This is an internal process so unfortunately there is not a contact email that we can provide to you through this forum.
