The receiving of the gift is not taxable but if you then later sell the crypto you may be liable to Capital Gains Tax. Your parents should check the laws of their country to see if any gain is due on them gifting the crypto to you.

Hi,
If you have both PAYE and self employment then yes you can claim the trading allowance against the self employed income. It cannot be claimed against PAYE income as you are not actually trading when employed under PAYE.

You would make the claim in a tax return for any refund to be issued. If you do not need to do a tax return, you would send your claim in writing to:

In regards to your second post, you would provide details of the company and amount invested and the date the company was liquidated.

You cannot claim personal therapy as a business expense if you are a sole trader. This is because it fails to meet the test of being 'Wholly and Exclusively' for their business as it is for their Personal use.
