RE: Does Interest on Cash ISA count towards ISA allowance?
Hi,
No, as interest does not count as paying funds in.

RE: Gain from Indian insurance policy
Hi,
The policy provider should give you a certificate when the policy matures or is surrendered. Where there is a gain, this will be shown along with the amount paid out. The gain is the amount after payments made to the policy have been deducted. You can see guidance below for more information:
Gains on foreign life insurance policies (Self Assessment helpsheet HS321)

RE: Profit from Indian Mutual funds
Hi,
Approved mutual funds are taxed differently to unapproved mutual funds. You will need to find out which you have. You should check with the mutual fund provider.
Approved mutual funds will be liable to UK Income Tax on interest, coupons and dividends and Capital Gains Tax on disposal.
The disposal of non reporting funds is treated as 'offshore income gains' and are subject to Income Tax and not Capital Gains Tax.

RE: Self Assessment personal allowance 12570 but PAYE allowance 12579.
Hi,
The personal allowance for 2022 to 2023 is 12570. Any amount above this would be in respect of additional allowances claimed.
You may have claimed relief for expenses or a pension that has increased this amount and you can check this on the tax code issued to you.

RE: Living in France
Hi,
As you are claiming exemption on your UK pensions, you need to include the residence section of the tax return and you cannot do this using HMRC software. You will also need to include HS304 along with a French residence certificate.
Non-residents tax relief under double taxation agreements (Self Assessment helpsheet HS304)
Once the DTA claim has been approved, you will not need to submit the HS304 but will continue to submit the residence section of the return along with the rental page.
