RE: Homes for Ukraine, Split Year Threatment
Hi Dmytro,
HMRC cannot advise you on matters regarding your residence as that is for you to determine based on the guidance available.
With regards to the self employment from Ukraine, as tax was deducted on this, you will declare this as self employment in order for the income to be included in the calculation and also as foreign income in order to claim the credit for the tax deducted. This does not duplicate the income.

The telephone number for the National Insurance Helpline is 0300 200 3500.
I can, however, advise that the Team that deal with your query are currently dealing with queries received in July 2023 so unfortunately there will be a delay before they reply to you.

Hi JL12
For the period that you were in full time education you may be able to pay voluntary class 3 contributions.
You may wish to call our National Insurance Helpline on 0300 200 3500 and they will be able to advise you of the amounts required and how to pay them.
Before you pay voluntary contributions you may wish to check your current and future entitlement to a British State Pension.
More details are given at: Application for a State Pension forecast.

Voluntary NIC for partial year as state retirement pension starts
Hi MT24,
It would not be worthwhile to pay voluntary National Insurance contributions for the start of the tax year in which you reached State Pension age as this would not count for pension purposes.
Thank you. -
