RE: Missing National insurance payments
Hi Jowitch72,
If you have access to your Personal Tax Account (PTA) you’ll be able to see if the tax year is shown as paid. If you don’t have a PTA you may wish to set one up via Personal tax account: sign in or set up.
If your class 2 contributions are not shown as allocated, or you don’t have access to your PTA, then please call our National Insurance Helpline on 0300 200 3500 and they’ll be able to check your payment and arrange for it to be allocated to your National Insurance account.
Thank you.

RE: Foreign National and Class 3 NI contributions
Hi Anthony,
To be entitled to pay voluntary National Insurance contributions whilst overseas, a person must have resided in the United Kingdom for either 3 continuous tax years or have paid for any 3 tax years. As you’ve advised that you’ve lived in the UK for 8 years then this condition would appear to be satisfied.
Voluntary class 2 contributions, currently £3.45 a week, maintain a persons National Insurance account for State Pension purposes as well as for claims to Employment & Support Allowance made in the UK.
Voluntary class 2 contributions may be paid provided that the person is employed or self-employed overseas and was normally employed or self-employed in the UK before their departure.
Voluntary class 3 contributions, currently £17.45 a week, maintain a persons National Insurance account for State Pension purposes.
Thank you.

RE: 2022/23 - Not Available
Hi Robert 2019,
If you call the DWP Future Pension line 0800 731 0175 then they can advise exactly where the shortfalls are, whether paying the shortfall will increase the state pension amount and then they can pass you to ourselves to get details how to make the payment. Payment of voluntary contributions can be made at any time and for any amount to make a year fully qualifying even small amounts like single weeks where necessary.
Thank you. -
RE: Missing NI contributions - NI38/CF83
Hi Ian Macdonald,
If you would like to pay voluntary National Insurance contributions for the period that you are overseas, then please complete and return our CF83 application form after reading leaflet NI38 ‘Social Security Abroad’.
The NI38 and CF83 can be found at the following weblink: Social Security abroad: NI38
Voluntary class 2 contributions, currently £3.45 a week, maintain a National Insurance account for State Pension purposes as well as for claims to Employment & Support Allowance made in the United Kingdom. Voluntary class 2 contributions may be paid as long as the individual is employed or self-employed overseas and were normally employed or self-employed in the UK before their departures. There are additional criteria but our International Team will be able to assess this for you.

Hi Omnidyne,
If you changed jobs and received a wage in the same pay period from both jobs then this can cause an underpayment which would be collected in your tax code.
