If you are UK resident working for the Euroeman company, this is classed as self emloyment and yes you would be treated as a sole trader to then claim the relevant expenses.

Yes, it would as this prevents you from travelling.
The maximum number of days that can be attributed to exceptional circumstances is 60 in any tax year.

Only capital enhancement that would increase the value of your property are allowable. the two referred to would therefore not qualify for this.
