Dears, I started a company a year ago, and now I applied to strike off my company. I want to ask about the following please: 1. What is the email address to post the DS01 form, or to inform I applied for strike off? 2. Since the company started I made only 3 sales transactions with total amount of almost $100. I am unable to provide the invoices because my Shopify store account was deleted and replaced by a new one that hadn't made any sales. What do I need to do? Thank you Regards

Hi Tarek,
You will need to contact Companies House in regards to striking off and complete DS01 form.
If the Company has traded, you will need to file a Tax return with HMRC for the account period trading took place.
Thank you.

Hello, I want to strike off an active company that is not dormant. But has no trading history, it has never traded since incorporation. And is not registered for corporation tax. I have read that since the company has never traded then it doesn’t have to file the final accounts or the tax return with the HMRC. I just want to confirm if that is true?

Hi,
A few months ago I set up a company with me as a single director, I ticked the box to state I would be trading immediately but I didn’t. The company has done no trading, no bank accounts, no employees, etc it is as it was since the day I registered it in companies house.
I wish to strike the company off - do I need to file any tax returns (nothing to report at all since 0 trading) or can I just proceed to apply to strike off and dissolve a company online?
Thank you.

Hi Azio
If the company has not traded and you wish to strike off, you will need to inform HMRC that the company has not traded since incorporation.
Guidance on how to do this can be found at: Tell HMRC your company is dormant for Corporation Tax
You will not be required to file any tax returns.
You then apply, to be struck off, through Companies House.
Thank you

Hi
I have strick off my company in July 2024. HMRC made objection in September 2024. I called HMRC and the officer said he doesn't know why becuase there is no any abnormal at my company HMRC account. He dont know why HMRC has given the Objection.
So I go back to Companieshouse ask what to do. Today companies house replied me by email: " Unfortunately, we do not know which department within HMRC has objected, please contact your local corporate tax office for more information on the objection or contact HMRC on 0300 200 3410."
Can someone help me this? or has similar situation?
Companies house told me to go ask HMRC, HMRC told me there is no issue and go back to Companies House.
What should I do please?
Best regards

Hi Ke,
This forum has no access to any tax records so cannot comment on previous interactions with HMRC.
Unfortunately, we have to give you the same advice as you have previously received.
Our Corporation Tax: general enquiries is again where we would redirect you to
Please contact the CT helpline on 0300 200 3410 with your company details.
They will then be able to review your records and can send a referral to have the objection to strike off reviewed.
Thank you.

I applied to strike off my company about two weeks ago; it has been open for around 1.5 years, and the accounts are overdue. Do I need to send a DS01 form to HMRC?
Posted 3 months ago by HMRC Admin 20 Response
Hi jack111,
The form DS01 is a Companies House form.
You should advise us of the date your company ceased trading.
You can do this by either telephoning us on 03000 200 3410 or writing to us at Corporation Tax Services, HMRC, BX9 1AX
Thank you.

Hi, Thank you for your response. I just want to clarify: do I need to send the DSO1 form to HMRC, even though the company has incurred a late filing penalty because the accounts are overdue? I applied for strike-off about a month after stopping trading. What should I do now? Should I file the final accounts with HMRC? Thank you for your help.

Hi ,

You do not need to send a copy of the DS01 form to HMRC.

As previously advised, you do need to tell HMRC the date the company ceased to trade.

You are then required to file the company tax return, accounts, and computation online up to this date and pay any tax and
late filing penalties due.

If you do not do this, HMRC may object to the strike off.

You mention the company applied for strike off about a month after it stopped trading.

Please refer to guidance available at

Strike off your limited company from the Companies Register

You will note you can only strike off your company if it: has not traded or sold off any stock in the last 3 months, has not changed names in the last 3 months, is not threatened with liquidation, and has no agreements with creditors, for example a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA).

You may want to contact Companies House regarding this as it seems you have submitted the DS01 form too early.

Thank you .

If my company is dormant in the eyes of HMRC but not with Companies House (as is the case for my company) do I need to file final accounts with HMRC before submitting the DS01 to Companies House?
Posted 4 days ago by HMRC Admin 21 Response
Hi Matthew,
If the company is dormant for Corporation Tax, and you have told us, you are not required to file company tax returns for the dormant periods.
Please refer to guidance available on our website at:
Closing-a-limited-company
and
Strike-off-your-company-from-companies-register.
Yes, please do notify HMRC of the intention to strike off and follow the process of submitting the DS01 to Companies House.
Thank you.
