RE: Declaring a repayment via paye tax code on tax return
Hi
If submitted online on the tailor your tax return section on page 3 of 3 you would answer 'yes' to the question: Have you had any 2023-24 Income Tax refunded or off-set by us or JobCentre Plus?
This will then open the section on the tax return where you can enter the details of any in year refund received, plus this will then open the section on the tax return where you can enter the details of any in-year refund.
Thank you

RE: Repayment Pending? It has been over 5 months
Hi BigJohnTheBrikkie
1. I am unable to provide the percentage of repayments selected for security checks.
2. Once selected the timescale for the checks to be completed can take up to 6 weeks, but, it can take longer due to the high volume of repayment requests or if addditional information is needed.
I apologise for the delay if you have not yet received your repayment.
3. Yes there will be repayments that were selected that have been issued.
To review your repayment you can contact HMRC by phone/webchat at Self Assessment: general enquiries

RE: US Corp Representing UK Based Consultant
Hi
As far as your specific question is concerned, I think it's reasonable to say that consultants are generally regarded as being self-employed.
This is supported by the information under 'checking their employment rights' in the link below.
Employment status
If we accept that this is so, and assume that the consultant is a French tax resident, then their profits would be taxable in France only unless they have a UK permanent establishment (Article 7 UK/France DTA).
It seems that the question being asked of us is the position from the point of view of the company.
As we would only respond on this forum board to questions relating to personal tax, we have forwarded your query to the Business Tax Customer Forum which might be better placed to provide an answer.
Thank you

RE: Bonus payment in June will take me over the 40% tax
Hi Suzysloane17! sloane
If your bonus takes you into the 40% bracket for that month and then your wage returns to your standard salary then the tax is calculated on your pay to date and any refund due would be calculated automatically.
Your tax code should not change unless with the bonus your annual income would be over £100,000.
Thank you
