RE: Taxation of untaxed prior year capital gains when remitted if now on arisings basis
Hi
Yes. The AEA will apply, as will offsetting losses. Residential property is taxed at (lower) 18% and (higher) 28%, while other capital gains are taxed at (lower) 10% and (higher) 20% or a mixture of both. The rates applied will depend on you income level and whether there is any surplus lower rate available.

RE: Claim a National Insurance Refund
Hi
As a pilot you are liable to pay National Insurance in the country where your home base is. In this case the UK. You should apply for a portable document A1 from HMRC in order to exempt you from paying in Sweden. To apply for this you will need to complete the application form CA8421
Thanks

RE: National insurance letter H
Hi RV2024
The apprentice is under 25 so they can use category letter H as long as the apprentice is on an approved UK government apprenticeship and earning less than £967.00 a week.
I’ve attached a link to the guidance on gov.uk
Paying employer National Insurance contributions for apprentices under 25

RE: Mechanism for paying class 2 NI contributions from abroad
Hi
Provided that you’ve been in touch with our International Team already and they have advised that you may pay the voluntary class 2 National Insurance contributions whilst overseas, then you may pay for multiple tax years in one go or you may pay one tax year at a time. When we receive your payment we will use our judgement to allocate it to your National Insurance account so I would ask that you check your Personal Tax Account to make sure that we’ve dealt with your payment as you wished. If we have not then please just let us know and we’ll amend it.
Before making any payment of voluntary contributions you should check with Future Pension Centre (via Check your State Pension forecast) to ensure that it is worthwhile for you to do so.
Thanks

RE: How to Pay Voluntary National Insurance Contributions from Abroad
Hi Robert Gray
Thank you for your enquiry. The bank details now shown on GOV.UK have been updated and they are the correct details to use if you are living abroad but still have a UK bank account that you are paying from (08-32-20, account number 12001004) - Pay Class 2 National Insurance if you do not pay through Self Assessment: Make an online or telephone bank transfer - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) The sort code and account number that you have quoted should no longer be used.
Thank you

RE: NI for salary paid by non UK employer
Hi Alley Yim
We are unable to give a liability on UK National Insurance decision via this forum.
You will have to write to the department to request a decision.
Please provide all information about your employment and confirm whether the company you remotely worked for has a place of business in the UK,
If not you may have to register for a direct payers scheme and therefore you will pay both employers and employees Class 1NICs.
Thanks
