RE: S041 form application
Hi
Thank you for your enquiry. You are correct, the Hungarian authorities can only request the S041 from HMRC, you cannot request this certificate. The alternative would be for you to request a CA9110. You can request this by writing to HMRC at the following address:
National Insurance Contributions & Employer Office
International Caseworker EU
PT Operations North East England
HM Revenue and Customs
BX9 1AN
Please provide your name, address, National Insurance number and periods of residence in the UK.

RE: Wrong number of NI years ago
Hi Lolito Lolito
The number of qualifying years may show a different total if you have also been awarded juvenile credits for your 16th, 17th and 18th birthdays.
You may have been awarded these even if you were not in the UK but were 16 before the 6 April 2010.

RE: Pay National Insurance Voluntary Contributions
Hi Jose Cardoso
As you arrived in the UK during the 2012-2013 tax year it would appear that you may be entitled to pay voluntary class 3 National Insurance contributions for this tax year.
If you could send us a letter to advise us of the date of your arrival and that you would like to pay voluntary contributions for the 2012-2013 tax year then we’ll be able to advise you of the amount required and how to pay. Our postal address is: HM Revenue & Customs, PT Operations North East England, BX9 1AN, United Kingdom. However, if you could ring us we’ll be able to provide you with this information straight away. Our Helpline number for customers overseas is: +44 191 2037010.
Thanks

RE: CF83 Questions
Hi stark316 stark
If you could complete our CF83 application form to pay voluntary National Insurance contributions whilst overseas and include the best estimate of your date of departure from the UK and again an estimate of your last UK employment.
You should include a covering note to detail your periods of employment/self-employment outside of the UK since 6 April 2006 (ie from … to …). Again, best estimates would be fine.
Thanks

RE: Class 2 or 3 eligibility -a Catch-22 situation?
Hi
As you are not employed overseas by a UK company, there will be no liability for class 1 National Insurance contributions for your period overseas. You may pay either voluntary class 2 or voluntary class 3 contributions.
Voluntary class 2 contributions may be paid provided that the individual is employed or self-employed overseas and was normally employed or self-employed in the UK before their departure. If you complete the CF83 application form (which is available via www.gov.uk) and apply to pay voluntary class 2 contributions then our International Team will be able to check that you may pay the voluntary class 2 contributions and if you don’t then they will ask if you’d like to pay voluntary class 3 contributions.
Thank you

RE: Correct process when sending employees to work abroad
Hi
The A1 can be issued for a period of up to 2 years. We ask for the dates you require on the application. There are 2 application forms that may be relevant for you. The CA3822 is used to apply when the employee is being posted to another member state, the CA8421 is used when the employee is working in 2 or more member states (we also have the CA9107 when the employee will be working outside of the EU/ EFTA, and in a country we hold a reciprocal agreement with.)
Thanks

RE: Planning to apply for U1 but missing payslips
Hi
We ask that you send any payslips that you have, however if you don’t have them all available you can still apply just sending what you do have, you can also send any P60’s you have

RE: Self Assessment and Class 2 NI
Hi anthony mccormack
I am a little confused by your reference to ‘NI’ and ‘HMRC’ as NI is dealt with by HMRC.
The area dealing with correspondence from self employed customers are currently working on letters received in June 2023 so I am afraid it will be a little while until they can deal with your letter. As an alternative, can I suggest you contact the NI helpline on 0300 200 3500. Lines are open 8am – 6pm Monday to Friday.
Thanks

RE: How are online payments allocated to a specific year?
Hi Barry Overington
Without being able to check your record I am unable to give a definitive reply.
I am afraid the only option is to contact the NI helpline on 0300 200 3500. Lines are open 8am – 6pm Monday to Friday. Lines are usually less busy at the start of the day.
Thanks

RE: How are online payments allocated to a specific year?
Hi peadar
At present, the only way to pay online is using the reference number provided by calling the NI helpline on 0300 200 3500. Lines are open 8am – 6pm Monday to Friday.
If you still have a cheque book, have checked with DWP that the payment will increase your pension entitlement and know how much to pay, you can send in a cheque to –
National Insurance Contributions & Employer Office
HM Revenue & Customs
BX5 5BD
Make the cheque payable to 'HM Revenue and Customs only'
Write your NINO on the back of the cheque and include a covering letter to advise which year(s) you are paying.
Thanks
