RE: Voluntary NI Contibutions Overseas
Hi connierafferty Rafferty,
The final tax year does not count towards the UK state pension, so your date of birth will determine the years that will count.
If you have received your letter detailing the years you can pay and the amounts once the CF83 letter has been processed, please call the international caseworker
National Insurance helpline and they will advise the years you can pay up to retirement age and how to make the payment.
The International pension centre at the Department for work and Pensions should also be advising if you are able to make these tax year payments to HMRC.

RE: Tax on savings interest
Hi
When we receive your 2023/24 savings interest details we will then review your record and if underpaid we will send a calculation and the underpayment would normally be collected in the 2025/26 tax year.
Once you receive the calculation if you want to pay as a one off payment you can contact HMRC for details of how to pay.

RE: VAT registration for a non-UK resident director
Hi Ariful islam,
If the business you are trying to register for VAT is based outside the UK then you should be able to register for VAT through the online Registration process.
As long as you state on the application that the business is overseas then it should be asking you for an overseas address and should be accepting overseas postcodes.
The system will only not accept overseas addresses if you have stated earlier in the application that the business is based in the UK so please make sure that you answer the questions correctly as to where the business belongs..
If the business is overseas then you will not need a UTR number.
If you continue to experience problems with the online Registration please refer back to our Helpline.
Thank you. -
Goods dispatched from USA to Africa and UK VAT
Hi
If the goods do not come in to the UK then there will be no UK VAT involved.
However the sale will still be reported in box 6 of the VAT return as a business supply.
Thank you. -
RE: VAT recovery from items exported to the EU
Hi Tom Clark,
If you are VAT registered in the UK and selling goods overseas then these would normally be Zero rated for VAT purposes as long as the conditions are met for an export.
Please see the guidance below:
3. Conditions and time limits for zero rating
A VATregistered business/sole trader would then be able to claim the VAT incurred in the UK on their VAT return.
This is only possible if the business is VAT registered. If the company isn't VAT registered and sends goods abroad then there is no mechanism to recover this VAT.
As regards the duty chargeable please contact our International Trade Team as below:

Purchase VAT with Europe VAT ID
Hi Stan C,
Please make sure with the supplier has charged you the VAT correctly.
If they are charging you UK VAT at 20% then they must use a GB VAT number on the invoice.
As it is a purchase for the business then the purchase would need to be included in box 7 of the VAT return:
Please see below
3. How to fill in each box on your return
Thank you.
