RE: How long to receive increased pension from additional voluntary contribution.
Hi Robin Gillies,
If you could call our National Insurance Helpline and let them know that you are over State Pension Age they will arrange for your payment of voluntary contributions to be allocated.
The Pension Service will then recalculate your pension entitlement and you may then wish to ask them when your pension increase will be from.
The National Insurance Helpline telephone numbers are 0300 200 3500 (from the UK) or +44 191 2037010 (from overseas).
Thank you. -
RE: U1 Form
Hi Armantas,
If you applied for your U1 online then you should receive it shortly.
If you don’t receive it within the next few days then please call the National Insurance Helpline and they will be able to send you a copy.
Their telephone number is 0300 200 3500 (from the UK) or +44 191 2037010 (from overseas).
If you applied for your U1 by post, then our International Team are currently dealing with queries received on 28 February 2023 so there will be about a 44 week delay in receiving your request to the U1 being issued.

RE: pay for previous missed years.
Hi stark316 stark,
When you complete the CF83 application form you would put your current name at question 1 and your former name at question 4.
We will be able to update your National Insurance account to reflect your current name which will then automatically update your Personal Tax Account,
so you should then be able to access it.
Your Personal Tax Account will confirm the number of tax years that you already have paid for and will also show any shortfalls of voluntary contributions
from the 2006-2007 tax year.
When you receive a reply from our International Team they will also quote the number of tax years that you have and also detail the voluntary contributions that
you may pay for and how you may pay them.
Thank you. -

RE: How to Pay Voluntary National Insurance Contributions from Abroad
Hi Keith,
I can confirm that the CF83 application form is the correct one to complete to apply to pay voluntary National Insurance contributions whilst overseas.
If you could complete and return the CF83 with as much information as you can (and include a covering letter if you wish to explain further) then our International Team will be able to provide you with any shortfalls of voluntary contributions that you may pay and how to do so.
The Pension Service will be able to advise you what tax years would be beneficial for you to pay to improve your UK State Pension so you should check with them before making a payment of voluntary contributions.
Their contact details are available via: Check your State Pension forecast
Thank you. -

RE: P85 online - bank account details
Hi lucadesa,
In the course of leaving the UK, taxpayers often decide to close their UK bank accounts before we've had the opportunity to issue their repayments to them.
As such, the most effective way to ensure a repayment reaches a taxpayer is to issue it by cheque.
Thank you.
