RE: I don’t know if I need to fill out a tax return form
Hi yanyan,
If your only income is your PAYE salary £9000 and bank interest of £6800 then this does not meet the criteria for submitting a Self Assessment tax return.
At the tax year end once HMRC receives your income details we would review your records and a calculation would be issued if you have underpaid or overpaid your tax.
Thank you. -
RE: How often should make self assessment
Hi atn_23,
When you submit your Self Assessment tax retrun for 2022/23 you will receive a claculation advising the balance due.
The due date for the payment will be 31 January 2024.

RE: Income Tax
Hi JMoell,
I am sorry but there is not an option to submit an email to HMRC.
If the estimated income being used for your tax code is incorrect then you can update the details on your Personal tax account: sign in or set up online which would then update your code.
The other option is to contact HMRC to review. Income Tax: general enquiries.
To submit a complaint online you need to go to Complain about HMRC. Select complain online if you're an individual or a business.
Log in using the relevant HMRC online services account or 'Create sign in details' to create a new account.
Thank you. -
RE: High income charge - net income calculations
Hi Jemmam,
If the pension contributions are taken from your income before your tax is calculated then you have already received the tax releif and this would not be
deducted again for the adjusted net income. Personal Allowances: adjusted net income

RE: Self Assessment registration deadline
Hi BravoHKer,
If you are not able to register online due to the mismatch then you will need to contact HMRC to review and register. Self Assessment: general enquiries.
If you register after 5 October 2023 for the 2022/23 tax year once set up you will get 3 months and a week to file the Self Assessment tax return before late filing penalties are charged.
Thank you. -
RE: P85 for past years
Hi Chandler,
If you have left the UK then yes the P85 would be the correct form to submit.
As it is going back to 2017 then that tax year should have already been reviewed and any refund issued.
If you contact HMRC we can check if reviewed. Income Tax: general enquiries
Thank you. -

RE: Two NIC calculation and refund
Hi shanying wan,
You can not download this form.
If you think you are due a refund of National insurance you can firstly try the “Claim a National Insurance refund
The year you wish for a refund depends on the processes involved.
CA4361 is a form sent out to check details of National Insurance contributions paid in a relevant tax year for multiple employments.
HMRC issue this form either automatically or manually if there is a potential overpayment of National Insurance.
You can either complete the form and post it back to HMRC or call the NI helpline on 0300 200 3500.
If there is a refund due you may be able to provide the relevant pieces of information we require over the phone.
You will need your documents for the relevant tax year when they call us – P60/P45 or the final payslip.
If a CA4361 has already been issued and they just require a copy, we can re-issue one manually after a phone call/web chat/letter to us.
Thank you. -
RE: Error in years paid for voluntary contributions
Hi Anne Perceval,
Unfortunately, you will need to call the NI helpline on UK - 0300 200 3500 overseas +44 191 203 7010 so we can investigate your account, the best times to call are between 08:00 until 09:00 when the lines are quieter. The department youl need to speak to will depend on your situation, i.e. if you are self-employed or paying overseas contributions .
We can move the funds to other tax years to qualify and increase your pension so long as they are the amounts required to cover those years.
If wish to write in or web chat these are below.
