  • RE: Voluntary NI contribution 23/24

    Hi,
We are currently dealing with a high volume of voluntary payments, the timescales depend on the circumstances of your payment and the National Insurance class.
If you paid for an abroad period it can take up to 29 weeks to allocate the payment to your record, if it is a domestic Class 2 payment it can take up to 29 weeks and a domestic Class 3 payment can take up to 8 weeks (based on the automated system allocating the amounts).
The domestic Class 3 payments can also be allocated over the phone, if you’d like to call us on 0300 200 3500 to do so.
However, abroad payments and Class 2 payments take 29 weeks, due to the high volume of other payments in the queue needing to be allocated.
    Thank you.
  • RE: Home responsibilities protection

    Thank you.
  • RE: How is Full-Year National Insurance Contribution Determined?

    Hi,
A qualifying year is determined on weeks, if based on a credit.
For example, you would have a full qualifying year if a National Insurance credit (Child Benefit, Universal Credit etc) covered the full period of the 6th of April until the 5th of April. However, in terms of employment it is based on the annual income and can differ in each tax year.
For the current tax year 2024/25, the earnings threshold for a full qualifying year is £6396.00.
Therefore, in your scenario a salary of £24,000 in the tax year would provide a full qualifying year for National Insurance purposes.
    Thank you.
  • RE: Import of my own goods via post - question

    Hi Aird,
You can bring some goods from abroad without having to pay UK tax or duty, if they’re either:
    •    for your own use
    •    you want to give them as a gift
This guide is also available in Welsh (Cymraeg).
The amount of goods you can bring is commonly known as your ‘personal allowance’.
Personal allowance rules apply to any goods you have bought overseas and are bringing in to the UK.

  • RE: Paying voluntary contributions

    Hi,
If you make an initial voluntary payment for 2 of the years, you can go ahead and pay for any gaps from 2006 onwards until the deadline of 05/04/2025.
You may still be able to make payments after the deadline for your gap years, however, we would need to know the specific tax years.
However, before making voluntary payments we advise contacting the Future Pension Centre on 0800 731 0175, to confirm the years you are paying for will boost your pension entitlement. Please call us on 0300 200 3500 to discuss the deadlines for paying a specific tax year, as they may differ from the 05/04/2025 deadline.
    Thank you.

  • RE: Pension Forecast is wrong

    Hi,
You will need to call the National Insurance helpline on 0300 200 3500, so we can investigate whether HMRC have you registered as self employed for class 2 purposes for the full period. Furthermore, Class 4 National Insurance does not count towards your State Pension entitlement, only the class 2 payments
    Thank you.
  • RE: Transfer of Residence question

    Hi,
You do not need to list individual items in a group, such as the names of each book, or each piece of clothing.
You can estimate numbers such as kitchen items.
Please see below link for more information.

  • RE: UTR Number and CIS scheme

    Hi,

It is still possible to work for a construction company as a subcontractor when you are waiting for your UTR number, as you will be deducted at the higher rate (30%) until the contractor is able to verify you.
Once your subcontractor registration is completed, any unmatched verifications will need to be matched to your record.
