RE: Pension Income showing as Employment
Hi,
National insurance is only deductable from employment income and how much this is, is worked out by your employer.
Even if your pension appears on our systems as employment, the pension provider, knows that this is not employment income and will not deduct national insurance from your pension.
Thank you. -
RE: Irish citizen and tax resident
Hi,
Article 20 of the UK / Ireland tax treaty covers self employment, advising that as you are a resident of Ireland, that Ireland can only tax your self employment income.
(Synthesised text of the Multilateral Instrument and the 1976 Ireland-UK Double Taxation Convention – in force).
You do not need to register for self assessment, as you have no UK taxable income.
Thank you. -

RE: Interest and dividends from Malta
Hi,
Article 10 of the UK / Malta tax treaty (Malta: tax treaties), gives both Malta and the UK, the right to tax your dividends, with Malta having the first right.
You would claim a foreign tax credit in your country of residence, for the tax paid in Malta, so that you do not pay the tax twice.
Thank you.

RE: Allowable Costs When Calculating Gain On Shares
Hi,
In the tax return is a box for 'allowable costs (including purchase price)'. You would include this cost in this box, as the sum in this box is deducted from the disposal proceeds.
