RE: Business mileage from home to various sites
Hi
Please have a look at EKIM32125 (Travel expenses) on fixed term appointments. It advises that a period of attendance at a workplace for a limited duration does not make that place a temporary workplace if the employee attends in the course of a period of continuous work (see EIM32080) that can be expected to last for all, or almost all, of the period for which he or she is likely to hold, or continue to hold, that employment. In these cases the 24 month rule (see EIM32080) is overridden and the workplace is a permanent workplace. (Travel expenses).

RE: Self Assessment Forms
Hi
If you are in receipt of foreign income, such as an overseas pension or bank interest, you will need to report this on a self assessment tax return. If your only source of income world-wide is your UK bank interest, then a tax return is not required. Please have a look at Check how to register for Self Assessment. If you still require a self assessment tax return, you can register onine at Register for Self Assessment if you're not self-employed. If you are unable to register using the online service, you can print and post the form SA1, which can be found at the bottom of the screen. -

RE Multiple chargeable event gains on Stock Investment?
Hi
Capital gains on stock investments is not the same as chargeable event gain. A chargeable event gain is deemed to form part of the chargeable person’s income. In the case of a full surrender, assignment, death or maturity the gain will be assessed for the chargeable period, tax year or accounting period, in which the event happened. Special rules apply to part surrenders or assignments, involving the concept of an ’insurance year’ at whose end the gain is treated as arising. The tax charge on chargeable event gains takes precedence over any possible charge on capital gains, and so is taxed under income as interest.
