  • Re:Working tax credit and Pension

    Hi
If both of you are currently working your award will include 2 elements for WTC.
Working Tax Credit can only be paid to the nominated payee.
If one person stops working you must notify the Tax Credit Office straightaway. If the person leaving work is the nominated payee for WTC, this can be changed to the partner, providing that the partner meets the eligibility criteria for WTC. Information on eligibility can be found  here Working Tax Credit: Eligibility - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
For information about making changes please go to Manage your tax credits - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
    Thank you.

  • Re:Employer National Insurance contribution for a Foreign company

    Hi Edmond Tse,
Unfortunately this is not something we can discuss via the forum, you will need to either write in for a liability decision or set up a direct payers scheme.
All information can be found at the www.gov.uk website.
    Thank you.
  • Re:U1 Form

    Hi invj2,
    Thank you for your enquiry.
The current timescale for an online U1 application is 1 week.
The department who process these applications are currently working on applications received on 03/04/2024. If your online status shows ‘completed’, this would indicate that your application has been processed. It usually takes up to 4 weeks for this to arrive in the post.  However, without checking your personal records, I am unable to confirm if and when your U1 was issued. You can check this by speaking to an advisor on the National Insurance helpline.
    The number to call is 0300 200 3500, or +44 (0) 191 203 7010 if calling from abroad.
Lines are open Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm.
Alternatively, you can use the webchat facility, which can be found here - National Insurance: general enquiries - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) Please choose the option ‘Ask HMRC online’.
This facility is available Monday to Friday, from 8am to 6pm.
    Thank you.
  • Re:Online account blocked for almost a year with no update

    Hi Dannyjax79
If you cannot login or self-serve using your password, you would need to call Online Service Helpdesk on 0300 200 3600 for further assistance .
    Thank you.
  • Re:NI contributions - differing bank account names

    Hi Steven Wong,
If your bank holds the account under a different name but the sort code and account number are the same then yes you can use that account.  It was previously known as ‘HMRC NICO’ before changing name to ‘HMRC NIC RECEIPTS’
    Thank you.
  • Re:Can I still pay additional NI contributions

    Hi Simonapsey apsey,
Yes the date of April 2025 is correct for deadline to pay voluntary contributions for years older than six years.
For the years working in Cambodia as a volunteer you would need to complete for CF83 from gov.uk and apply to pay voluntary contributions for Development Workers abroad – complete and return the form and our international team will advise what and how you can pay.
For the year 15/16 if this was just in the UK then you can call our National Insurance helpline to get the amount confirmed and a payment reference to allow you to pay via bank transfer or cheque to us.  If this year was also linked to an abroad period, include it in the application form mentioned above.
    Thank you.

  • Re:Purchase NI from abroad

    Hi Brendan Leane,
I would have expected your application to have been dealt with by now – you can call our international caseworker team on +44 191 203 7010.  If you have a Personal Tax Account (PTA) set up via gov.uk you can check the status of certain forms you have submitted to us.
    Thank you.
  • Re:Voluntary National Insurance contributions

    Hi BarbS,
The payments have been very busy towards the end of the tax year but we are processing them in good time, if it has been more than eight weeks since making the payment you can contact our NI helpline and an agent will check the details.
    Thank you.
